Polam replacement??

Post by jockman »

What would you consider to be the closest sounding EL84 to the stunning Polam.
As that valve is rarer than rocking horse ****, I would like to start investigating a worthy replacement.
Any suggestions?

Tesla EL84s with the hexagonal anodes are *very* nice. Watford Valves sells them as rebranded as "Harma STR" EL84s. Worth buying while they're still available.

And cheaper than 'real' Teslas.

I have a pair of Teslas I got from the sarge, thought they were great, until the Polams. Might have to 'tune' my ears to them again.

I have a pair of Tesla Roznov el84's with hex plates that I got from sarge and these things are outstanding. If the the Polams sound better then they must really be special.
