Would the 36 work in a matchless-styled head cab?

Rather than than the smallbox with the chassis resting on the bottom, tubes/trannies on top....would it be possible to out them in a Matchless-styled head cab which is kind of like an inverted small box....chassis on top with tubes/trannies hanging down?

Sure it would work, you'd just need to get some new faceplates.

Haven't bought faceplates, yet, so I guess that's good! Still thinking about the cab/panels as I work through my build (at a snail's pace).

I think that maybe it's better to have the tubes on top of the chassis so that the heat from the tubes can rise away from the chassis , keeping the componants somewhat cooler , rather than having the chassis mounted "upside-down" .

I don't have any proof of this , it's just my guess .

As anyone who's owned a Fender or Marshall combo can attest, it is better for cooling to have the tubes on top. However, as long as the opening in the back is large enough, down hanging tubes shouldn't cause a lot of problems. A lot of Fender and Traynor heads have the tubes hanging and have been ok for 3 decades.
