But...when I was using the resistor only, it didnt have the 2X1K5s it had the old resistors in there...cant remember what they were now...should be in the old layout?
Down is ON. Power first, let the tubes warm up for a minute or 5 then standbyswitch down too.

Ya the 2 resistors are 100 Ohms. I'll try it that way. I actualy drilled a hole into the back panel and have the 18/36 switch next to the 36RP logo.

The only thing I am worried about is the lead dressing and prtential noise having these wires near the input tubes... Oh well... we'll see...

Richie... any ionsight on this potential problem with noise having the 18-36 switch going near V1 and v2 ?

That's a good idea. Hope it works cause mine is inside between the opt and pt.
Drilled a hole??? Guess you really ARE having a switch in there now! lol

No I am buidling the head and cab out of Ash... Man that wood is heavy... and dense/hard.... Actually .. my girlfriend said that of me last night in bed.... Ehh... back to the subject... ya... ash... hard wood...

And ya... I guess the switch is staying... or perhaps a footswitch can go there... I'm not even done and already dreaming of the next.... I think a JCM800 2203 or 2204... There is a thread started about it here...

is of now, eh.... let me count.... ehhh, zero. This is my first everything. But I am copying plans of this site. One is of a 1960a slant and the other is in a thread called my 2x12 sslant cap.

Probably gonna weight 300 lbs or something... Jesus. But me and my buddy have been working on this for at least a month trying to get the perfect finger joints with his router table... I started out trying to do it with Dovetails.... forget it... I prefer the look of fingerjoints ... and I won't be tolexing the head.cab. Just black stain.

On that note... I tolexed my first amp this weekend. 1x12 marshall solid state, which I am gonna sell. It was all chewed up. Tolexing is pretty easy. Get the green can of contract cement. Apply to both surfaces, let dry completly (15 mins) then apply from center to edges and there you go... I used a rolling pin to get any air out... Only the corners are a bit on the harder part... but ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU GLUE THE 4 SIDES BEFORE YOU CUT THE CORNERS. Reason is, the tolex seems to shrink a little (2-3 mm) when it's drying... and the first attemp I screwed up cause the V corners where now too short... but perfect before I applied the glue...

no no..I mean amps not cabs...geeze...who cares about THAT crap? lmao...but really though...2-3 mm shrinkage? That's like a hundred thou...almost...that's a LOT!!!
So the smashed up one you re-covered....did you have to fill the dents and stuff with filler first and get her perfectly smooth?

Well I had screwed some wheels on the bottom and filled those holes, and there was a dig on the bottom and filled that with "Lepage tinted wood filler", looks like a big toothpast tube.

sanded it down and went at it.... It's pretty easy. Just as i said the corners... 1st attempt I glued the top part, then held the sides in place and cut the corners to fit. applyed the glue.... went to do the sides and they would not reach by at least 3-4 mm at the widest part. So tore that off started over (cause I had 4 yars). Cut the strip about 8 inches too long and make it about 8 inches wider than the amp (4'' each side to fold in. It really did a nice job. ALOT better than the stock tolex that was on this piece of garbage MDF cabinet.

But who cares about that...

, but if I DID care (which I DONT), where and for how much do you get tolex up here...you know...IF I cared and was gonna try it to like say...a harmony combo that someone put MAC-TAC on in the early '70s. Merely speculative of course...cause I dont give a !$%@.

Well I got mine from "Baccus" on this board. He know a place in Windsor ontario that sell it cheap but you have to buy 90 bucks worth (9 yards). It nice stuff and is better htat was on the marshall amp.

But you can also get some off ebay...

If i managed to do it in 2 afternoons on and off... you can do it for sure... just read the directions onthe Lepage contact cement, cut the tolex too wide and too long to have room to go in the cab... and do your corners at the very end... and voila... like wraping a gift, with glue....

But what do yoiu care... you're a tuff guy... just cover it with dimaond plate aluminium and call it a day....
