Where do i get good quality,reliable supplier nos tubes? i had asked myself this question for many years. got ripped a few times. fortunately we have a member called sgt.overdrive visit his tent . excellent prices,help and honest. sounds like a good mechanic? seriously nos tubes sales are an often slimy and mystifying experience. the sarge is a great place to start your journey.Regarding nos tubes being expenseve, consider a good nos will last up to 5 times a new manufacture, experience superior sound for years . i think they are a bargain if bought from a good source. good luck!!

I didn't have as good of luck as everyone else seems to have dealing with the sarge. When I tried to purchase a pair of Polam EL84's, I e-mailed the sarge inquiring about the price for a pair and he quoted me $120.00. I thought that was just too much money so I never returned his e-mail (I paid less than $120.00 for a pair of GEC Gold Lion N709's!). The next day I got another e-mail from him saying he would sell them to me for $60.00 a pair. Had he quoted me $60.00 originally(which is a fair price), I would have bought them from him.

call me crazy, but i actually liked the sound of jj tubes better than the rca, sylgania, ei, ratheon et all tubes i've tried in it from the sarge. Its been a bit though since i listened to them..spose I should try em out again, since they're just sitting in a box. I chose to record with JJ's instead of the NOS i got to try out before recording.

Sarge (Terry) can be a little confusing to deal with. I have asked him prices and he has misunderstood and quoted me on something different than I asked for! But all in all if you can wade through he has good product and is a reasonable guy to deal with.

I'm not too into the NOS Russian mil-spec EL84s he sells. They sound good and are nice tubes, but are a little too American sounding to me. I like a crunchier tone and I think JJ and Ei do that very well. However, if you are looking for muted highs and a huge bottom, they might just be perfect for you.

The Sarge is definately one my go to guys for NOS stuff. His prices and quality can't be beat. Best value out there...and I'm all about value!

Lord Valve at NBS Electronics is also good but has Less NOS stuff and deals more with current production.


If you're feeling brave and have a LOT of cash to spend try Greg Levy at Hi-testguitars.com. He has THE best stuff available but at the highest prices too! If you need EL34's one of the best deals going is Siemans 34's for $60 a matched pair. They are great up until about 450 plate volts.
Above that their life span can be measured in months. YMMV though!

Try the NOS Tesla EL84 Hex Plates Sarge has, they'll smoke the JJ's in everyway, no comparison.

They're tubes produced years ago on the old machinery but have never been used so they are new. NOS=New Old Stock

kd, ill have to try out those. I got that pair from sarge i believe. Are those the roznovs?. I tried them as soon as i had a new OT put in the amp, ill have to try it again when i get all my gear back and see if my ears like the NOS or JJ's better.
