36 watt power tranny

What have you folks been using for the power tranny in the 36? The one I tried has only 150mA current, and is too low to supply the 4 EL84's. It farts when cranked like frying bacon. Any suggestions?

Heyboer

Power transformer : HTS-7042 bumped up to 290-0-290 stand up $80
Output transformer: HTS-7013-1 $75

I replaced my pt with the Heyboer. Better tone, and the frying bacon has gone no matter what tubes I put in it. But my voltages throughout the amp are about 30% low. The tone is really tight and solid though.

I have a feeling Heyboer have changed something... as I just bought my transformers a weeks ago and have the same problem you do....

Like a mystic fog, the voltages have risen significantly.

It's the A/C power from wall, it can go from 110V-130V.

Have you cross-checked your component values with what's on the current layout?

I double checking my componrnt values. I still have the frying if I crank the beast.

you know what I have seen, a bad connection to the rectifier. Either a bad solder OR a bad socket connection

I also moved the high voltage wires (Red) off the PT away from the low voltage (Yellow) wires and the farting went away or cam back as I moved them closer .... You might want to check that...

For me it was just as I flipped the standby switch on.... as if when lots of current was running to the rectifier it did it bad... then tamed a little...

Where did you end up buying your new PT? Is it a stand up or lay down configuration? How did it fit your 6M36 chassis?
