Whenever you can. I'm waffling between the 18W and 36W EF86 amps right now.

hehe...stay patient
i have´nt fixed all the probs with noise and hum.
today i noticed a funny thing. if i touch the headshell on top while the amp is running the hum increases.
if i touch the half power switch or the power/standby switch it will decrease.
and the noise... probably it is normal that these amps are that noisy when they are fully cranked but i´m not satisfied with.
probably i have to change some resistors in the preamp stage to metalfilm ones...
anywy... the amp rocks.
from crystal clear to classic 80´s metal sound just with a roll back of the guitar volume.
fine... my goal for this amp was gigging without any need for stompboxes.
i would say - gotcha

ok... regarding clips... i will bring it with me next week i guess.
and hopefully i will be alone at home

one thing... take the 36er.
sound is similar between 18 and 36watt, but the 36 position has more balls.
there is not a big difference in volume, but you will have more headroom and more punch.
i´ve played both tonight for hours and i´m really happy about my decision to go for the 36er.

Would still like to hear your clips sometime.

What speakers/cab are you using yours with?!?

hi,
speakers came from the man with no name

blue bulldogs AlNiCo in a 2x12 half open cab.
especially the voxxish channel sounds great with these.
if i would go for a 4x12 i would mix the bluedogs with some silverbells.

celestion heritage g12H30 would be great too

That's what I figured. I have a Hellatone 30 that I love and one each of the Celestion Gold, Emi Red Fang, Webrrr Blue Dog and Silver Bell. I thought I could probably find a good AlNiCo to mix with the Hellatone and be set. I'm building my 36W into a head box first to use with my 8x10, then build a 2x12 using the above combo, and then maybe try the chassis upside-down in a HiWatt style 1x12 combo with maybe the Gold by itself. (I swear that speaker sounds better everyday!)

You're right 7enderman... a little more of everything with all four EL84s pumping.

I'll call it:

GIRTH... with Clarity.

I'm gonna do a shootout with my new amp and the speakers listed above in a week or so to find the best combo for this head. I might also post some clips of the 36W TMB EF86 through my Marshall 8x10 if I can get the retolexing job finished and put it back together.

Totally, man! I'll be posting some more of my music soon enough; hopefully some with 18/36 watt accompanyment (just recording with a '63 Vibroverb clone with 2x12s built by StuDaddy until then)

. Hope to showcase that amp with an upcoming bluesy/pop song called "Our Yesterday". Likewise, hope to showcase the Jim Marshall sounds with a rock/gospel tune called "Grace Overflowing". You just can't beat the pallet of pure expressive tones you get with time tested amps of old.

So what´s about hiss or noise if your is fully cranked ?

My attenuator is stuck at customs... and i tried to record something without but there is now way without beeing killed by my wife or my neighbours

Had the Amp at Volume 0.25 and it sounds not so bad but .... you know.
Cranked it´s totally different.

I just thought that I would add that I played a Ceriatone DC30 this weekend and it was amongst the best amps I have ever played. I own Matchless lightning and a 65 Pro Reverb that are also great amps so that is saying something.

So...which of the three is "the best" or your "favorite"? I know this is possibly impossible to answer.
