my input jacks dont fit right.. hrm

Post by danelectro »

i got my chassis today and the madness has begun!

its going ok so far, but the nuts on my input jacks dont screw down far enough to tighten down on the plexi/chassis.. its due to there being a plastic barrel like extenion on the body of the jack that prevents the nut from screwing down too far. i figure ill just get some washers tomorrow to space out. is there a better way? also i dont like the black "washer" like things that come with them. a metal washer would look nicer i think.. so yeh i guess washers are the way to go.

any input? HAR HAR HAR :)

thats to accomodate the plexi, still tho i find even w/the plexi there is too much room req'ing additional washers.

Happy tube amp building

Danelectro,

Been reading your questions, you must be about a week behind me in building your 18 watt because you are seeing many of the things I encountered (my first build also). My chassis hole for the input jacks was not big enough for the "barrel" to go through. The threaded insert screws in and "clamps" the chassis against the barrel. FYI, I used the Cliff style jacks from Hoffman.

I fabricated my own chassis, but generally used Graydons CAD layout for hole sized, positioning etc. I don't have my notes with me to remember what size hole I used for the input jacks, but I'm pretty sure it was what Graydon had shown. If your barrel goes through the hole, washers should work fine.
