36 watt to bassy

Any fellas out there build a 36 watter to find the Bass control just right all the way off? As soon as I turn up the bass control the amp has more low end than I want. I am using the stock layout on the site. Please let me know if any of you have changed values to make this amp respond better in the low end. Thanks, Jos...

There are quite a few mods you can make to the stock circuit:

Change the coupling caps to the power tubes from 0,022uF to 0,01uF (if you are looking at the board with the PT to the left these caps are left of centre and link between the grid and PI plate resistors)

Roughly centre of the board is the Tonestack, There are usually two 0,022uF's followed by a 500pF (or 470), try dropping the 500pF down to something between 220-330pF and it's common to see the mid cap changed to 0,01uF but you can try changing both.

To the far right of the board are V1's cathode Resistor(s)/ Bypass Cap(s) depending on whether the cathodes have separate R/C pairs, Try dropping the cap(s) down to 0,68-2uF.

Best to make changes one at a time (except power tube coupling caps) and see how you like the change.

I have 3 Ceriatone amps, an 18, a 36 and a JTM 45. I have the bass all the way off on all of them. My neck single pickup is still too bassy on the low strings.
