Cathode voltage to power 12V fan

Personally, I'm a little skeptical about the need to force-air cool EL84s, unless you're deliberately intending to run them biased a lot hotter than specified max dissipation limits. I think I read somewhere that EL84s are meant to run at around 200C. That's real hot!

I know it's kind of an old thread, but I am considering installing a 240 fan directly off of the 120 wall supply as well.
The only difference is that mine is a fixed bias 2x6L6 and 4x12AX7 tube'd amp, all built in a BF/SF Champ chassis (a BF Princeton Reverb circuit with bigger iron)! It's a small head and the heat in such a small package is actually a bit insane.
In any case, I will comment on the noise as soon as I finish installing the fan and switch. I know it aint a 18w/36w, but the info will be applicable to 18w/36w amps.
