Hammond PT Question
Ok, just a little help:
First time I've seen a transformer with a wire for "Shield". DO I just solder it to ground ?

Thank for any help

That wire connects the Faraday shield to ground. The Faraday shield is there to divert noise to ground, keeping it out of the secondary circuit.
Here's a load of information about it if you have a strong desire to read more. http://www.powertransformer.us/isolatio ... ormers.htm

The shield winding which is a single ended winding (only one connection) is also connected to earth for safety as well as an electrostatic shield.
It is usually between the mains or higher voltage and lower voltage winding. If there is a short or more correctly an earth (ground) fault, the shield carries the fault to ground and blows the fuse, rather than causing the potential on the lower voltage winding to rise dangerously.
If you have one (not all transformers do) you may as well connect it.
