Traynor Bassmate

Post by LeeMo »

I found a Traynor BassMate in excellent condition in a local music store. He's asking $250 US for it. I did some researce on it , thinking that I could convert it. I found out that it is good on its own merits. I went back and played it . 8O
I sounds pretty good!
Does anyone know of any mods that won't destroy it? I was thinkng a Lite II version but I'd hate to screw it up after I played on it.
Oh, by the way, an eighteen watt thru a fifteen inch in a sealed cab thunders pretty nice. It's too good to waste on "bass players". :P

LeeMo,
I had the same thoughts about a Traynor Bass Mate head. I picked it up for $40 as it had a major hum. I found it just had a cap disconnected from ground. It's a pretty nice sounding amp so I just copied the cab and built one for single channel 18 watt.
$250 is not bad now for a good working combo. There are some tweaks if you want to warm it up a bit. Try the Traynor Black Velvet site

Well, I broke down and bought it. :D Now I need to give it more gain. Any suggestions ? My SansAmpGT2 does a lot for it(too much, really). I'll be opening it up soon and I'll keep you posted.

IIRC you can quite easily mod them to be like a Fender Bassman or a Marshall JTM45....
