Earlier Breakup TMB Channel

Post by Junkmale »

G'day all, would changing out the 100k resistor on V3 of the attached layout to say 120k or higher result in any earlier breakup? If so, how does this work?

Yeah, yeah I know, another newbie question......

maybe a little.. if you want a better way for a boost from that layout or earlier breakup, on V2 pin 3 is a 820 resistor.. bypass it [piggyback across the resistor] a .68uf or 1uf bypass cap.
Some people do this on a switch for a gain boost.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I'll need it yet. We have a gig this weekend and I can't wait to crank it up. It probably already breraks up early enough but trying it out in the house is different to a club.....Does what you suggest give a large gain boost or is it subtle. I may only need a little. Cheers.

lets just say it is noticeable.. its not like super big like you've added a fuzz pedal.. its more like what you might say a lead boost, just bumps it up some.. this has been done to many marshalls for years.. the good thing is, its easy to try.. and if you don't like it, just remove it. it should be about what your wanting..
