GZ34 on 5V 2A recto winding.......cutting it to close?

Post by margaret »

My Mojotone 18 watt PT has 5 or 6V tap at 2A dedicated to the rectifier filaments, I know the GZ34 needs 1.9A. Anybody running a GZ34 5AR4 with this tranny and hows it working if so? I know it was designed for the EZ81. It's not a traditional 18 watt build but I figured you guys would know the answer.

Thanks.

First of all, Welcome.

Second. an EZ81 uses the 6.3v tap... the GZ34/5AR4 the 5v tap... That transformer should power either one without problems, as long as hooked up to the right power taps. As an 18watt transformer, it should power practically any 18watt build Ok.

Note: I have yet to use that tranny, but see no problems with it.

Your 5 winding will be fine with the GZ34.
