Finally got it right
Ok I'm not fast moder,
once the amp is not farting and voltages are right I let the time and gigs do their work.
After right combination of sozo's, ero's, cc's,cf's , various homemade OT's for this amp which is pretty much stock tremolo model I found good combination with one speaker.
well I tried old greenbacks, g12H's old and new but found g12h's - too much treble and midd is not right with me, I like round treble like greenback has
or pronounced midd/treble but compressing like good old Vox alnicos of yesteryear...
Anyway I think I got it finally right, I hope so...
Please forgive sloopy playing, today is my melancholy day.

Hey Zaphod,zaphod_phil wrote:So what speaker did you use...??
it's seventies goodmans...ok I know your reactions on Goodmans
But I'm not spitefull or stubborn soul, it just happend that this goodmans have very similar bas response to G12H but middle/highs were meatier or woodier and when is pushed you don't need booster to get creamy distortion with feedback on single notes, i'm talking single coils here (tele, strat).
All that is required for this speaker is to remove metal dust cap.
It's essentially 50Hz bass cone rated at 50W/ +- 100dB/ 16 ohm.
It has heavy ceramic magnet like G12H but with moderate pull, though I wouldn't be surprise that they copied celestions...
Give em try they go very cheap.

Gee, I'm shocked with your huge response, it hurts!
Ok , maybe another clip will do better LoL

Strat bridge pickup (single coil)
Amp volume 6 , tone midway(5)
Zoom H2 handy recorder 3 meters away
Dynamic picking attack

Thanks, katopan wrote:Sounds pretty nice. I'd be interested to hear the creamy distortion and feedback too!
I've wondered about the H2 recorders. They look like a good little unit, and it's interesting to hear recordings made with one.
it's hard to make that level of noise in my house without being shoot by neighbours.
I have one recording with H2 strat single in bridge position but don't know much about cream , maybe clapton's cream
Recording is from our little amp fest...but somebody forgot to switch rec. gain from speech level to band level so rec. is clipping.
ok, rhythm guitar is tele pluged into Magnatone 212 replica with ***** 2x10 speakers (alnico and ceramic) and feedback/solo guitar is strat with 18w and ''Badmans"

I got some chance to test and record 18w in live situation with one of the leading rock bands here.
Record is taken with H2 handy recorder, so we have raw stage sound.
Telecaster,volume 6, tone midway(5).

Those are some great 18W tones! The singer sounds like he's drunk.
I agree the "Badmans" do sound warmer.leslie wrote:Ok here is speaker test of G12H30 and Badmans respectively.

I agree. So far the G12H-30 is my favourite speaker for an 18W, with lots of warm mids and strong bass. However, it seems that Leslie's Goodman speaker is even warmer.Ingo wrote:the G12H30 Celestion is indeed a very warm sounding speaker, go ahead and listen

I listened to clip (I know skaboosh, very fine player ) and your transformers are awesome!
(I know what I'm talking about cause I listened to your 18w SOT (aprox. dimension 70x64x20mm) very closely in vivo.)
G12H is fine speaker but to my ears have to firm middle and highs are little spikey for my taste(maybe I'm more used to older greenbacks).
It's just...maybe I'm not into hard rock sound as I getting older (retired or retarded LoL) or I just like round notes
Anyway it's just hapened that I have same song recorded with this Goodmans and strat (single coils) to see what I mean/like.
