thanks for posting the dimensions on the head cab. I just finsished building one. although it took me a little longer since I did it all by hand except for the piping channed a freind of mine did it on his lathe. it came out perfect.

my mistake he has a lathe, but he used the milling machine.

What do you mean by milling machine?

This is a typical milling machine:

It's typically used to remove metal in a very precise manner but it will work well on wood too. It's not a tool you get just to make a cabinet or two. :D

I've made corner joints by butting the pieces together and using a glue and screw cleat on the inside of the corner. This is the least expensive and easiest way.

I've also made corner joints using a dovetail jig and a router to cut a dovetail corner. It's a bit more work and the tools are more expensive but it looks great on exposed wood corners.

MY buddy is a machinist and offered to cut the channels out for me.
I filed the corner by hand and also the sides.
