Weber vs Warehouse Greenback

Post by Ringwraith »

Anyone compare these two clones to each other?
I think I'm going to get a greenback type for my 18W (trem) build.
Just heard about Warehouse & was wondering how they compare to Webers.

Cheers

I have no experience with Weber's version of the Greenback but I recently played through a WGS Green Beret and was not impressed. It found it rather shrill, not very Greenbackish. I have owned both '72 Greenbacks and currently have the more recent reissues and they are markedly different than the WGS version in my opinion. If you have the opportunity to try a Warehouse before buying one and preferably A/Bing it with a either a Heritage 20W Greenback or 25W reissue, I'd recommend it. A speaker is 50% of the amp/tone equation so is important to get one that does it for you. This is my experience and opinion only and I'm sure it will be met with some disagreement (which is ok! ;-))

I can't speak for the Weber but, I have a GB in a 1x12 closed back that sounds wonderful.
In fact, I liked it so well that I'm getting ready to build a 2x12 with them.
