Music Ground / Harrisons

Post by stevesuk »

I was in Denmark Street yesterday (Tuesday) and a 'MG employee' of the above told me what had happened in court on Monday to the long anticipated Harrisons trial.
They pleaded guilty to just 2 guitars.
Evidently the prosecution was all over the place.
A trial pencilled in for 3 weeks lasted one day.
They are free and back on the street and will be 'sentenced' in February.

Yes, they don't proudly call themselves 'The Darkside" for nothing.
How about straight blatant copies of Celestion Thames Ditton gold speaker stickers being openly sold ?
I am also told they have bought up lapsed amplifier and music business names like "Park" and others.

FYI Hiwatt is unfortunately owned by these same guys, as is Jennings/JMI, but they make quite decent and legitimate amplifiers. Their music shops are where the real dodgy stuff happens, with stolen guitars and counterfeit "vintage" amplifiers. Thankfully the two sides are quite separate from each other.

The Hiwatt name in the UK is owned by MG.
In the States it is a separate company.
There is also a 'Reeves' amp company.
Dave Reeve's (Hiwatt founder) wife and son who live locally to me, have never had a penny from any of it.
