is it safe to assume that the values used in ecl86 output stages will be suitable for el85 also ? There doesn't seem to be many el85 amps documented on the web!

Both specs here.

http://www.r-type.org/pdfs/el85.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.r-type.org/pdfs/ecl86.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The following link is a useful resource but sadly doesn't have the EL95 but it has the ECL86 and typical operating conditions for EL85 are on the EL85 pdf above

http://www.4tubes.com/DATASHEETS/SCANS-Muiderkring/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope this helps

Thanks for that David; does anyone have any ballpark suggestions about cathode biasing resistor value? The mullard data refers to 310r in the operating conditions section fpr AB push pull~ so does that suggest a shared resistor of 150r to 180r for starters?
