All I need now is the board....
I really dig those transformers.. very clean built stuff. The hammerpaint finished covers over the paper covered bobbins. Nice!

You don't need to, but it's cool. You could add "built by Bjorn" or something like that if you want. Though it does bug me that you didn't center the hole well. ;) OCD. lol

The tracking for the board says it's somewhere around Brussels. You'll probably get it within a day or two. It's funny how it sat in Newark for 9 days for no reason, and then boom, a few hours later it's on the other side of the planet.

Don't forget, on that board version some of the cap vias are .8mm, so if you want to use caps with .8mm leads, you'll need to do some convincing.

It's fine. I'm proud of it being your design.
You're probably right about the centering of the pilot. I'll adjust that.
I'm confused about the caps... all my caps have long leads. If it's narrow spacing between connections you're referring to , I can use the brown flat poly caps for those spots.

I meant diameter, not length. .8mm would be pretty short leads. ;)

Djeeezes Josh !!! You're ruining my high...
Anyway, there's a lot of work before I can start building. First prep the chassis.. transformer wiring , heater stuff... the zen time has already begun. I'm in the flow..

Thanx!
Drilling job done for bottom and front. Still have to draw the back and I can only drill the holes for the PCB mounting when I receive it...

A small look into the future...
20210326_213406.jpg
Btw.. just got mail from the post office. It's going to be delivered... customs charge an extra 42€ !!!!! Criminals!!!!😠

Btw 2: I just noticed when installing the pots that you changed the layout sequence of the control plate... now I've gotta be careful with the wires from the board to the pots and not follow the layout there.

WTF??? That's $50 USD! The total on the customs label is $65 USD. How are they charging 77% tax?! Wow, that's really special.

Yeah, be careful with wiring the pots. I didn't pay attention and had to redo two of the pots on the head version. Oops. lol

Very nice. I'm curious to hear what this sounds like with 6L6s. And also when you eventually change it to EL34s. 😉😉

That's a beautiful chassis, and lots of great parts going into it, too! 6L6 is a terrific tube with a long and distinguished audio history, and its many variants played a major role in WWII. My first tube gear built from scratch used a 1625, and I still have a stash of NOS Mullard 829B looking for a good home. Seriously, if I told you the lengths I've gone to in order to use some of the lesser-known types (like the 1222), you'd know I'm certifiable. Good luck with that amp!
