Hiya!

Just letting you guys know I'm about to start 2 builds in the next few days. The dual 50 plexi and a 6G3 brown deluxe reverb.
For the Dual 50 I'm going to use Sluckey's documents.
For the 6G3 I made some docs myself. To be continued....

Have you got the schematic/layout for the Sluckey dual 50?

Yes. It's on the EL34 world site.
About the 6G3 I found out that the Down Brownie from Cutthroat sports a plexi like normal channel, so I will give that a go. There is no specific schematic, but there are build pics from those guys... seems pretty doable
That brown deluxe sounds awesome!!!

Prepping the chassis to my needs. 3 extra tube holes, IEC socket, holes for reverb jacks,...

The amp part of my 6G3 build is near ready. Only have to connect the PPIMV and the smoothing cap across the PI plates.
Doing that tonight, so I can start testing after triple checking the build vs schematic.
My layout plan was really awful at the power tubes. But now it should be just fine..I hope 😃
BTW, didn't connect the NFB loop just yet. Let's first find out the OT primaries are in the correct order...

Oh, and I'm not adding the reverb on this amp. I bought a Surfybear FET reverb last week... awesome pedal with a built in spring tank. I gigged with it along with my non reverb tremolo TMB and it's the best ever!!! that prototype tremolo TMB is my fav amp ever! Every time I play that one I fall in love all over again and again... Sorry Josh, I don't know why...but it just sounds superior to the reverb 18W and 36W versions I built.
It just sounds immensely vintage!! listen, Jazzmaster--> surfybear--> tremolo tmb:

B+ is 390V after rectification. Spec is 375V... is it all right/safe to add a 12V zener that's only 1.3 watt? I would like to put it on spec.. just for the f¥ck of it🙂

I wouldn't use less than 5W. You don't want the thing feeding your B+ to be unreliable.

Yes!!! Found some 1N5340B zeners in my stash... 2x 6V 5W should bring me there...

That sounds great! Nice crisp high-end, almost good enough to be a Marshall 18W :) Just one question, what were you driving the input with to get that nice breakup?

It's just my jazzmaster with a P90 bridge pup and the amp at 100%, both channels in parallel.
The amp is merely an addition to my rig.. ain't no chance it's going to replace my Tremolo TMB. It's not THAT good 😉
What puzzles me is why a 20Watt fixed bias amp is not as loud as an 18W cathode biased one... same speaker.. guess it's the extended dynamics of the 18W
The 6G3 does what it does, and puts down a terrific sound. The 18W is more inpredictable and can surprise me in very nice ways. I guess the 6G3 is male and the 18W female... sexism??? Sew me... #met'oh-well

You seem to have a pretty hot P90 there! :)

I think it's probably more because the cathode-biased 18W compresses the sound more, which will tend to make it sound louder
