It has been a while AO-35 Lite IIb

Post by Patrick620 »

Found this going through some old stuff. I have not been on here or converted one of these in about 10 years. Mostly been doing tube hifi and radio resto work. I must have done 5 or 6 of these IIb's back in the day and everyone loved them. I always stuck with the 5y3. Has anything changed with these in the last 10 years? I was planning on doing it the old way unless I hear otherwise. If it aint broke dont fix it idea. Nice to be back in the 18 watt scene.

Welcome back!

The Lite 2b is mostly the same, but you should look at the ground scheme thread in my signature, which links to my version of the Lite 2b, and shows better grounding methods. Otherwise, you're probably golden. Maybe experiment with the cathode cap value if you want.

Thanks,
Josh

I have a NOS JJ cap 32 32 but always reformed the old can cap. Old timer swore by it and I never had a problem and they are all still in service. I had a solar, still have an ESR meter. This is one of my past builds

Still have this one and use it at times live and in the studio. Was my intro to the 18W world and this forum.
Still love it!
