It's just a power brick I take along with me when I go to practice. I have one laying loose in every amp I play live with

That said... it's been a while since I took the TremTMB to practice. Man.. this amp is THE sh*t !!! I fear it's my number one forever.. I'm in love every time I play it in my band!!!
Planning a SE 5881 10W build in the near future .
Ah, that's an interesting power strip. I forgot how weird your plugs are way ovah there. πŸ˜‰

Some more progress today:
JMPGuitars-XtraTMBR-4-16-22.jpg

It's coming along nicely...but I have to say, I don't like these new impedance switches. I wish the old style were still available.

Thanks,
Josh

The impedance switch making people are forcing us to choose sides. 16 ohm rules!!! Mainly because the nice old celestions are 16 ohms πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Well, that's mainly because the original 18W OTs best coil was the 16ohm. But yeah, I did consider hard-wiring the 16ohm.

These new switches need the solder lugs to be sanded before you can solder to them. I hate that crap.

The ones I buy at Tube-Town don't. I'm pretty satisfied. The stem is too short to put on a backplate though.

I finished the build, but I need to troubleshoot a little. Here's how it looks:
JMPGuitars-TTMBXR-Head.jpg

I scratched the faceplate when I was making the switch hole bigger. I'll consider making a new faceplate if it's awesome, or if I decide I care. If there weren't so many darn nuts on that front panel I'd probably have done it already. πŸ™„

My voltages are odd, the PI is way off on one half. I'm going to test the tubes and highlighter test when I have some time.

Thanks,
Josh

I finally got around to test the voltages, and this amp sounds awesome! The tremolo sounds fantastic too. I have to fix an oscillation issue at the reverb tube. Because if its odd location, the wires are a little long, and I'm guessing the plate should probably be shielded. I might try moving the cathode wires first since that's easier. Next time I do something weird like this, I'll probably keep the tubes in order.

Here's a funny thing I caught when first testing the voltages. A couple wires in my PI were reversed. Normally I highlighter test before powering up, but this time I didn't. This is why we highlighter test, and why we take voltages. The voltages made it very clear the socket was wired wrong when 1 plate was HALF the voltage of the other. Awake me was able to fix tired me's mistake quickly.

I'll post photos and a demo after I sort out the reverb tube oscillation.

Thanks,
Josh

I found out that the reverb circuit topology isn't to be underestimated. The way F#nd$r designed reverb topology inside his amps is very good and pretty problem free.. and that includes 2 tubes plus 2 RCA inputs plus transformer. The amps I built that way are really noisefree at reverb level, even when it's full on.

My board topology has certainly changed over time, but I don't think that's relevant here. I have long wires running parallel, and that's obviously a potential issue.

Yup, sounds cool too. The noise issue I had was that the 220K resistor for the reverb tank jack broke (broken lead snapped at the body). There's a minor issue that probably needs chopsticking, but I've been really busy with actual work. I'll post a demo once I have time to mess with it and play a little.

Thanks,
Josh
