Did you solder them Wimas with hot air too?
Wimas are soo nice.. I like the way they feel😏
Haha, no. WIMAs melt with hot air. Don't ask me how I know. πŸ˜‰

I love their capacitors, they make great stuff. I've never made a guitar amp with them exclusively, so I'm interested to hear how it sounds.

They finally shipped my new chassis. Maybe I won't have to be toooooo patient.

The lil' Tremolo TMB Xtra.
I wonder how your version will relate to mine, soundwise.. I fitted mine with a heritage 55Hz G12H30 and it sounds really amazing. I like the footswitch option on mine a lot.
Will have to build yours too, a few amps from now. Have planned 2 builds the next few weeks. One plexi 20W and a 6L6 powered 6G3 with blackface reverb. The plexi will fit into an old Vox combo I scored some time ago. But I'm still deciding plexi or JCM800. I ordered a bunch of those primarywindings B+ switchable PT 's from the UK ...

No idea yet. I'm hoping there are no noise issues, but we'll see. I'm making a head, I only play through a detuned 2x12 cab with a single WGS Blackhawk.

Thanks,
Josh

My other job's keeping me too busy, not even close to finishing this build. Actually I ran into a slight snag. I wasn't paying attention to the tube count between the circuit design and chassis design, and I needed to add another tube hole to the new chassis. So I decided to also make this 36W instead of 18W. Cause, ya know, I love them EL34s.

This is where I'm at now:
jmpguitars-amp-chassis.jpg

I think I might save the PCB I already populated for an 18W build and just build another with the 36W specs rather than modifying the board.

Thanks,
Josh

Why? Look closer at the photo, I added a tube for the reverb right next to the reverb transformer.

Yup.. I noticed. No worries then anyway. Still funny though.. that small chassis. Nice in black too πŸ‘πŸ‘

Some more progress happening...

Here's the chassis now, front panel, PT, etc.. wired:
JMPGuitars-XtraTMBR-Chassis.jpg

Here's the new PCB:
JMPGuitars-XtraTMBR-PCB.jpg
I'm redoing the PCB to accommodate the 36W transformers. I'm missing a resistor and a few caps, so I need to wait a couple days until they arrive before I can finish.

Thanks,
Josh

It's just a power brick I take along with me when I go to practice. I have one laying loose in every amp I play live with

That said... it's been a while since I took the TremTMB to practice. Man.. this amp is THE sh*t !!! I fear it's my number one forever.. I'm in love every time I play it in my band!!!
Planning a SE 5881 10W build in the near future .

Some more progress today:
JMPGuitars-XtraTMBR-4-16-22.jpg

It's coming along nicely...but I have to say, I don't like these new impedance switches. I wish the old style were still available.

Thanks,
Josh

The impedance switch making people are forcing us to choose sides. 16 ohm rules!!! Mainly because the nice old celestions are 16 ohms πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Well, that's mainly because the original 18W OTs best coil was the 16ohm. But yeah, I did consider hard-wiring the 16ohm.

These new switches need the solder lugs to be sanded before you can solder to them. I hate that crap.
