Question relating to 18W Tremolo

Post by HenryCalvin »

What is the frequency range, in Hertz, for the tremolo speed control on the 18 Watt Tremolo TMB Reverb? Are there alternate versions of the 18W Tremolo TMB known for offering a notably broad range of adjustment?

Hey there..

Don't know the frequencies involved, but there are indeed options on expanding the frequency range of the tremolo. In linked document you can see the 3x .01uf caps that are part of the oscillation. On 1 cap there is a switch that enables you to put another .01uf cap in parallel to one of the caps. This slows the tremolo down. You can also for example put a .022uf cap in parallel to slow it down even more. You could also add a multi-way switch to choose the value of the paralleled cap. It may take some experimenting, but the standard triple .01uf config and 2 alligator clips + some different cap values can go a long way into discovering the system.
You will also find out there are limits to the proper operation of it. You will notice that the kick start of the trem will not work properly with some values
