Hammond 290PAZ Power Transformer wiring help!
Hi,
new builder here.
I have one previous build behind me (a Tweed Princeton 5F2A) which worked out pretty well.
Now trying my hand at building an 18w TMB from a Ceriatone kit.
I thought I would try and save some $ on postage costs by buying Hammond transformers locally
in Australia where I live.
Now I'm struggling to interpret the wiring functions on the Hammond 290PAZ power transformer
drawing with those marked on the Ceriatone layout.
I believe I have it figured out but would really appreciate somebody having a quick look
and confirming I have this correct:
Primary:
Black to mains input socket Neutral
Black/Red to 240v main power switch
Black/White 120v not used
Secondary:
Red (290v) to pin 1 EZ81 valve socket
Red/yellow to star ground
Red (290v) to pin 7 EZ81 valve socket
Yellow (0v) to pin 4 EZ81 valve socket
Yellow/Black (5v) not used
White (6.3v) to pin 5 EZ81 valve socket
Green (6.3 vtc) to pin 4 EL84
Green/yellow to star ground
Green to pin 5 EL84
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Generally correct. Better would be the red/yellow to cap can negative lug.
I advise you to wire in the safety diodes as shown on the layout. Those cheap EZ81 can fail.
Also, there must run a wire from the mains switch to the fuse an the other end of the fuse should be connected to the L terminal of the mains socket

Also, Ceriatone doesn’t provide schematics with their kits. In fact, I’ve never seen a schematic from them. I strongly recommend you use the docs from the download area on this site. Both layout and schematic.

I used Paz with EZ81, you'll get 365v on plates bit less on screens...Ended up using zeners to drop 30v...Built again would use different xformer. They get warm and make sure flux positioned away from OT.
