MojoTone kits vs Ceriatone Super Bass
Howdy fellas, I was looking & searching around for some info and also came here to post up for some personal experiences that some people might have on the comparisons of the Mojotone kits vs ceriatone kits. Which sound closer to the old vintage marshall amps preferably a 71 super bass.
I like the mojo tone head cabinets style a lot better than the ceriatone head cabinets as the mojo tone look very close to what the marshall look like. So I was favoring a mojo tone kit moreso. But I read ceriatone uses TAD mustards and vishay caps where as mojo tone kits use dijon caps.
Whats your take on it? Im more concerned over sound than aesthetics of a head cabinet but Mojo tone is a few hundred cheaper as well.

Re: MojoTone kits vs Ceriatone Super Bass
Mojo makes great cabinets, but their kits are trash. Avoid their kits, and avoid JJ tubes.
Ceriatone makes good stuff. If you're looking for something similar to the original, also check out GDSAmps.com. That's Graydon's website, and he's a founder on this site.
If you're set on those choices, buy the Ceriatone kit, and the mojotone cab if you don't want the Ceriatone cab.
Thanks,
Josh

Re: MojoTone kits vs Ceriatone Super Bass
Much thanks for the reply Josh. Greatly appreciate it. I have been reading some stuff on JJ tubes over the past few months and I'll admit I am not up to date at all but I have heard as you have mentioned to stay away from them. I just dont know what else to go with though. I dont think my amp tech is up to date either as I expressed my findings a little while ago and he swore JJ's were still good tubes. I'll assume as he has some left over stock in his basement yet.
I did think of doing that with mixing the ceriatone chassis and mojo tone cab but Nik stated it wont be compatible as ceriatones chassis is shorter, 22 inches. Im not afraid of any wood work to mate it together but was trying to avoid paying a steep cost for a cabinet that may need to be taken apart? If its just adding some wood to fill some gaps thats easy and I dont mind doing that at all but if its a complete disassemble well? I dont know if I can handle that sort of job. Im good with wood but not perfect. I appreciate you letting me know about the Mojo tone kits though. That goes along way for me. Also appreciate the referral on GDS. I havent come across them yet. So thats another option as well. Thank you.
