new 36W build
Hi - first post here, thanks in advance for your replies, and a super cool forum.
After consulting with Nik by email, I'm going to order the new 36W head kit from Ceriatone. Two questions:
1) Richie - when do you think you'll have the layout Q/A'd?
2) Do you have the trannies in inventory? If so, how do I order them?
Cheers,
Jim

I'll dig up the info..
I put a temporary layout in my gallery. I'll have Nik update it.. i think just the pot values on the normal channel from 470k to 500k.. not much of a difference. I think the rest is ok.
The trannys i used are from Heyboer..i'll post the numbers. they are not the same as what Graydon uses, they are both heyboer, but his is a different mount and size..
The Heyboer will fit Niks chassis. I had them do a couple changes, the PT and OT are a bit beefier than what i used in the first amp. Just bumped up the voltage on the PT about 10v and the OT from 30 watt to 35 watt.. they are just a hair bigger. these are all standup mount. And choke is AC-30. I'll find the info and post it. But Niks layout is in my gallery.
Sorry i have been so behind in getting things done..just been super busy.
I've got most of the other 36 watter done.. but i need some faceplates.

here is some of the info..
120 v pri . 290-0-290 @ 200mA 5v @ 3A and 6.3 @ 6A.
has a shielded pri to sec and a flux field hum band on outside.
9960434
30 watt AC-30 PT
standup mount.
OT is 35 watt HTS-7013-1
has M-6 lams.
4/8/16 ohm
4k
Choke is HTS 7040
I can't find the HTS number on the PT..but Phil should know ..its just the smaller standup AC30 PT it was bumped up to 290-0-290
The OT is made like the 18 watter,in the style of winding etc, only its much bigger, and has bell ends and 4 mounting holes..

I used aluminum, I believe Nik has both, this is the head version.
Transformers are Heyboer. You can order them direct from them.
Nik also has the boards with turrets. And Faceplates..parts etc.
Tubes are 4xEL84, 1-GZ34 3-12AX7
In useing the GZ34,i've had the best luck with the JJ..I used JJ for the EL84s and the new GT Mullard 12AX7s. But you can use what you like from NOS to whatever. I've bought a few GZ34/5ar4[chinese] and they were bad ,out of the box. The JJ have been holding up the best so far..the Sovtek would be next..and stay away from the Chinese GZ34..Unless they have fixed the problem with them.
