Head Cabinet dimensions?
Has anyone got the dimensions for building the head cab?
I looked in Downloads and only found the bluesbreaker and the 4x12
layouts. I also tried a search in cabinets and speakers and found references to dimensions but was not able to find any links.
Any help would certainly be appreciated!
Thanks!

Various Dimensions?
Is everyone just building their own boxes around the head chassis or
are their secret dimensions lurking out there somewhere?
Thanks!

Tom,
The head box that Jeff makes for me is 24" wide by about 9" high and 9" deep. They are made of 1/2" plywood, so the internal dimensions are about an inch less. You can make it any size you want though. We did a special head cabinet that was 21" wide. It just barely fit the head chassis. We also make an Offset head cabinet but I have to modify the head chassis significantly to make it fit in the cabinet. I like the look though.
There never was an 18W head, so even if you are a stickler for authenticity, you don't have to worry about dimensions since it is a product that never existed at Marshall.

Having just been through this, I can tell you that the inside depth of the cabinet for the GDS head chassis (including the two plexi panels that are mounted on the front and back) is 7 5/8".
Second, the bottom cutout on the back panel (to show the plexi panel on the back) needs to be 17 3/4" wide, the cutout for the front panel needs to be about 16 3/4" wide.
The overall inside width of the cabinet needs to be over 21"
If you want to buy a head cab instead of making it, Mojo made me one with the correct dimensions for $265, it looks great. I got rough blond tolex, but they have all the normal colors. If you're ordering from them, tell them to match the dimensions they used on mine -- their standard smallbox Marshall head cabinet isn't deep enough, and the cutout for the plexi panel on the back is too narrow.

Is the back plexi panel 18" wide? (1/8" coverage on three sides?)
I guessed based on the 16 3/4" opening needed for the 17" panel up front.
Anyone know the slot size for the piping notches?
And I would guess that for stabalization and mounting purposes
the 1 x 1 sticks are good for the corners.
Thanks for you help!

Piping and internal bracing
I have been using a 1/8 in bit to cut the string groove. As the coverings come in different thickness it can be very tight. I've not started using a 5/32 bit and that works much better.
The bracing is 3/4 X 3/4 but 1 inch will work.
