NEW LAYOUT - first try
Ok,
Ladies and gentlemans!
Here is my first tentative on the 18watt clone layout including Richie's latest corrections...
I want this layout to be the correct one... That's where I need your eagle eyes...
PLease point out any possible errors, I am sure I did something wrong...
NOTE:
I willingly left out the power connection wiring on the PT since I am going to use the Heyboer PT wire colors. I still have to work on that one...
Also, I used the bus wire grounding version, instead of the star grounding.
Thanks a lot,
Gabi.

Gabi: Other than the size of resistors for the cathode..and the 8.2K beside the 100 ohm . Those should reflect 2 or 3 watters, or anything bigger than the standard 1/2 size.. Then as you said your final drawing in the PT section.
I would show the cathode wires coming off pin 3 of the 12Ax7 tubes..
I know in Ians amp the cathode for V1 comes off 8.. and others they come off pin 3 of all. I know its no different to come off either ..its the same..
But it makes a better layout and things stay in line, with out as much crossing of wires. maybe pot values on the pots.. I'll keep looking it over some, but so far it looks very well drawn. Great Work Gabi, and Mark

Nice job, Gabi and Mark!
Can't wait to get a peek at the final copy. I got a turret board from Paul and he includes the values for the components. (Thanks again Paul, Nice job on the board!) I think with your indications of C#, R# will help me map it out a little better. I have most all of my parts but have been delaying while I try to get re-educated on the basics. Want to be certain before I start soldering! My schematic translation to actual layout skills are in need of some work. I'll keep watching and studying.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Gabi,
Well Gabi, that’s a work of art, eh? I mean, I could frame that & hang it on my wall! Beautiful looking layout, truly, well done
And since I’ve now found that my amp doesn’t work, maybe I’ll have to make myself a clone using your layout. That’s a strange prospect, making a clone of my own amp
!? Still, I’d have the double advantage of that Layout plus the actual circuit-board in front of me.
See you still have that twisted-pair wiring harness though,
. Should be twined white speaker cable you know (see photo on page 40 of Doyle);- sorry could resist that little “Tongue in Cheekâ€

Thank'all for the compliments...
I love doing this! Specially that I am going to use it for a head version of the 18 Watt... SO maybe after this I should draw one of those...
Richie: I made the changes you mentioned (thicker resistors according to their wattage, cathode wires coming of from pin 3 on the 12AX7 tubes). Also finished the PT wiring using the Heyboer PT. I copied the exact orientation of the wires there...
Tom: I intend to add the right values next to the R# and C#... Maybe this weekend... Thanks for studying the layout. I also want to make sure this is correct before it goes official...
Ian: I'd be honored if you would print it out and hang it on the wall - REALLY!... What a great idea! What about a T-shirt with this? Hmmm......
You are still sticking to the speaker wire heater harness, don't ya? Hehe - that is true, Doyle's book shows that clearly.
But there are some hum possibilities there I better cancel out by twisting the wires.
Also, I found something suspect you might want to check in your amp. I am not sure but better check.
your post at: http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?name= ... opic&t=503
Also here is the latest revised Layout.
All the best,
Gabi.

gabi layout converted to .gif
Thanks for the great layout. I saved it as a .gif file which will A) download faster, and B) print nicely from a web browser using the "landscape" setting. I'm new to building amps, but have been doing some studying, and am ready to build an 18 watt lite.

Gabi: I agree nice artwork.. it may look more congested for the cathode coming off the pin 3 change.. but if you look at the amps, the sockets are further to the left, and when they are in this spot, the hookups line up much better..
The wiring layout will look better in the amp.
Just wanted to point that out. You don't have to change or move anything, in the drawing. Someone brought up the diagram on a shirt.. Fender has those, i have one with a Super Reverb layout on the back of a shirt.
