any EF86 schems availible?

are there any EF86 schems availible? i looked in the download section and don't see anything. i read about Vox versions of the 18 watt and they sound very interesting and hearing the clips of Gabiel's Voxer has got my curiosity peaked.

i did find that EF86 variation table. is it as simple as putting that inplace of V1 in the normal 18watt preamp. of course one would have to work out the channels but assume a single channel / dual input preamp.......

P.S. Look in downloads under the AC30/4 section. Also look under mods and you'll find the EF86 variations schematic that shows an EF86 replacement normal channel idea. FInally look at the 18watt Frankenstien schematic under Mods, it has a complete EF86 channel on an 18 watt.

Yes, that's how it's done. You can substitute the EF86 preamp in place of either the Trem channel or the Normal channel input of an 18W. It will have more gain than a 12AX7 preamp stage.

The difficult part is finding a less microphonic EF86 and shock mounting it so that it doesn't pick up vibration. If you search on this BBS there are a couple of threads that explain in detail (with pictures and diagrams) how to do that.

thanks for the info. i have read alot about potential problems with them, especially as a builder but they sound so darn cool. i have a DrZ Rt66 and that amp rocks. i think largly due to the EF86 in V1. i bought a Dario tube for it and haven't had any issues since. it was about $50 though. i don't mind buying one nice tube if it will last. i am more concerned about building it properly (shock mounted, etc).

the Voxer is what got me interested. those clips sound great. that marshally / voxy vibe is right up my alley.
