Any Duties due when recieving shipment from Ceriatone?

Hi All!
Been lurking for a couple months here and thinking of ordering a 36watt from Nik.

I got a bit of a shock to the tune of $90 duty when UPS delivered a Nueman U87 from Germany a couple years ago.

Can anyone confirm that there is or is not a duty charged on stuff from Malaysia?

i just paid shipping to New Jersey and was not charged any duty at all.

I didn't have to sign or pay anything when I received my kit from Ceriatone.

BTW, Nik ships via DHL, who seem to have a good international service.

I live in canada, I ordered twice from nik and got (1 month later) a 13$ bill from DHL (which is nothing compared to UPS savage bastards)

Nik is great. I would not hesitate. Ask him to fill in the description artisticaly..... wink

Here in California a chassis and faceplate had no duty/tax.

Granted, it's declared value may be less than a full-on kit...

The last thing i got from Nik was a chassis and it was marked "Engineering Sample Not For Resale"... i think that makes a difference too in the realm of customs duties...

I paid no duties on items from Nik for shipping to Iowa......Or Japan either for that matter. I had one problem where DHL couldn't find my address but that wasn't an issue with Ceriatone.
