1963 JTM45 Metal Badge amp on EBAY- $9K !

Post by Dude »

Someone has one of these amps on Ebay, item # 3704882308, for $9000! I may be wrong, and the pictures are fuzzy, but it looks a little too clean to be true. And if you're trying to get $9K for an amp, wouldn't you post more detailed pictures, including the insides?
Regards,
Rob

Well, it's (probably mostly) the genuine article, but it is definitely overpriced. But there are big questions about that Ebay seller - a British dealer. They never put a full description nor extra photos up on Ebay. Wonder why...

Do a search for "Music Ground" on this site (or the LP Forum, etc) for info on their rep.

LOL
It's a shame there's only one out-of-focus picture for an amp they're trying to sell at such a high price. And this is the same dealer that tried to sell Adrian Wannatone an "original 18W" that appeared to have been cobbled together out of some original, plus some less original parts....

Frankly that advert is insulting. Hopelessly inadequate description, text apparently written by a five year old, and just one distant fuzzy shot of a “boxâ€

It must be the signed Jim Marshall poster that makes it so irresistable! :)

Hi Phil,

mine was at least one of their "museum quality" items. :P The best part of the story was that they emailed me the chassis pic of Ian´s amp that they had downloaded from this forum. :P

Hi Ian,

that´s the way they sell their stuff. 8O

Dude,

it´s a pity that you have missed to bid on one of their (Yeah! They had two within a couple of weeks!) original (?) offset Marshall´s..

LR,

sometimes they have decent stuff like the AC10 that they traded in at the last show. It sold the next week on ebay. You just never know if the stuff is real or fake.. Guess you´ve read the PP thread about one of their (in)famous Plexi´s?

Hi Adrian, well I knew it wouldn’t be you bidding on that JTM, not after your last experience with MG, :? LoL! Though some guys say MG are OK if you’re just in their shop for cheaper non-vintage stuff.

For what it’s worth:- I’ve been looking for a 1960’s or 50’s Tele recently, and the situation there is even worse – sellers always advertise them as “100% Originalâ€
