My latest 18W - a "pojfect" Dave Hole amp!

Post by Ballz »

Guys - check out Dave Hole:s "More love - less attitude" - that´s my latest 18watter to the last detail 8O - jeez, I nailed it!

This one 18-watter variant has a "normal" channel that bites hard - check out http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?name= ... oad&id=335....and it also has a cleanish channel that I stole from F*nders Pro Junior after getting a tip from one of the guys over at AX84....and this clean and LOUD channel absolutely gets me that killer tone of Dave:s - totally awesome!

Nailed it - heehaw ! 8O

So I guess that clip wasn't from your clean channel! Can you post a schem of this variant? I'm afraid I've never heard of Dave Hole....

Will do, Phil, will do - need to assemble the target amp now before I do anything else. So far I have only been fooling with the prototype, now the real thing is on the bench.

I am done with the PSU and the power amp section already. Tomorrow, it´s PI and preamp time, plus final assembly.

That clip was from the "old" cleano/meano amp, it was the "mean" channel (originally a Normal channel from the 18W TMB). Add this Fendery channel that CraigB (and F*nder) supplied me with and enjoy :-)

Clips will come, along with schematic, don´t worry :-)

Cheers /R

I'm afraid I've never heard of Dave Hole....

Dave Hole is a blues guitarist from Aus who scored a recording deal
in the states with blue note (i think).
I played a support gig for his touring band back in '71 and recall looking
in amazement at the back of his twin reverb which had 4 6L6s glowing a
bright blue colour (I had never seen that before) but had a great blues tone.
To this day I still don't know if it's a good or bad thing for a tube to glow blue. Some say 'bad gassy tube" some say ' meant to be', me wouldn't have clue.

That blue glow would be an Ion cloud. It's leftover gas inside the tube sheding electrons. Cool huh.
