ECC 85 Tube
I have number of Telefunken ecc 85 tubes,so question is have anyone built preamp arround this tube?
I know it`s a different pinout ... but it seems that tube itself has similar characteristics to ecc 81/82 .
One more...which type of phase inverter would be apropriate for this tube?

It seem to be somewhat explored among the hifi people:

I remember someone have also tried it for some application at the headwize forum (I think it was over there somewhere
)
But i guess you could rather use with the component values used for 12AT7, just as you thought.

Maybe I should build low distortion mono amp for my gramophone....
Just kidding...,obviously it will work in preamp/inverter....but Im not shure about Pin 9... puzzles me.. what the heck is pin 9?Is that attached to Heaters or not?

Hmmm, I like the idea of a 12AT7/ECC81 substitute that has better tone.
OK, just looked at the specs on http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?name= ... ly&t=16108
The gain (Mu) appears to be a bit lower at 55. Ra appears to be nice and low at 8.3k. So it should be pretty good for driving tone stacks.
Have you actually tried one of these in real life, then?

Nature abhors a clean tube amp
