TMB Output Stage Bias Capacitor Value

Hi,

I've seen a few different values used for the TMB output stage bias capacitor, 470 uF, 100 uF, 500 uF. I guess the higher the value, the lower the cutoff frequency and subsequently it would be less bright sounding. Any experience or recommendations?

Hi Terry, I have a 470 uf in my tmb which works well for me. I did go as high as 1000uf in my valve jr (1st build or rebuild) which really tightened up the bass when running full up. My suggestion is to experiment.

Experiment -- yes. Too small gets thin, and too big gets flubby. It's best to tune it to the sound you like.
