We've come a long way...

I just registered, after seeing Graydon's post on the Yahoo group.

Wow! This is way cool. And clearly represents a lot of work by the folks who put it together, to whom I say "thank you".

Let's see...I joined the Yahoo group in August 2001. Since then, it seems like a small industry has sprung up around this amplifier. Building it, and interacting with the other members of the 18 watt community has taken me to places I never knew existed.

I hope this smart new home will only strengthen the sense of community that has built up in the Yahoo group.

I like the format of the new message boards. The banners are there, but they're not obtrusive. The Yahoo groups messages were getting impossible with the giant adds in the middle and replacing messages. Kudos to Gabi and Adam for making a much better place to read and peruse.

I dig the font and the logo, Graydon. Did you design the logo yourself?

The banners right now are supporting my favourite business but pretty soon, we will have to sell a couple banner slots to paying customers who will help to support this website. Adam and Gabi hav etaken care of all the technical details of getting this site up and running, with very little financial help from anyone at all. Personally, I tihnk the banners are a relatively unobtrusive method by which we can support the site without becoming like Yahoo.

The logo that looks like a triode is by Gabi. He did that just as an exercise to put another banner on the site in his effort to make sure that the banners worked properly. He came up with a pretty cool looking logo & banner in my opinion.

I just switched over form the Yahoo site. This place looks great, thanks for doing all that hard work. The yahoo site was fun, but a real pain in the butt to get around on and follow different topics. Great idea! !
