Tiny Terror clone finished

Hello all, I have now finished my first ever tube amp build, its based on the Orange Tiny Terror circuit with a few little tweaks for more gain, more low end and a more effective tone control. I also used a quite big output transformer, Hammond 1650E, that might contribute to the big low end this amp produces. This amp is surprisingly loud through my 412 cab with Jensen Electric Lightning speakers.

Everything works great, and this amp sounds very good for doom style music, a very warm and pleasant but still agressive fuzzy distortion, not unlike my Acapulco Gold pedal. Also very noise free for such a high gain amp.

Artwork and tolex are a bit amateurish but it actually turned out better than expected.

Yes I did. This amp has both the master volume and tone control after the phase inverter in the signal chain. The tone control is really just a treble cut, a cap and a pot connected between the phases.

In the Tiny Terror schematic i used this treble cut is placed after the master volume, and that makes it work differently depending on the setting of the volume, on low volume settings it does basically nothing. So I moved it to before the master, directly after the PI. I also increased the cap from 2n2 to 3n9.

Its still just a treble cut but now works very effectively.

Thank you. For the faceplate I used a company here is Sweden that make various kinds of customizable signs. They have an online app where you design the sign and then you get it in the mail. This is a simple printed plastic sign, the nice things is you can also create cutouts with high accuracy so I could make al holes for pots and such.

How do you find the effectiveness of the post PI master at low volume settings?

The point of the post PI volume if I have understood correctly is to be able to overdrive also the PI even at low output volumes. Dont have that much to compare with but I do think this amp sounds very full and nice even at very low volume. It has a verty warm fuzzy distortion that works really well for doom/stoner ype sounds.
