Caged nuts ? and deburring tool.

I finally found a source for the caged nuts that are used on Mars**lls for fixing the chassis' I have always been unhappy about using self tappers and nuts and bolts etc. and now my life is complete
I got them from an Industrial Fixings shop and as far as I can see they are exact, even the 1970 screws fit. I have put a photo under stevesuk.

I have been slaving over another chassis today and it struck me that one of the most useful tools I have is a de-burring tool which is like a rotating curved blade allowing both sides of a hole to be de-burred quickly and cleanly. It can be used on aluminium to take off quite a bit of material, I opened up a hole from 25mm to 30mm today in a few minutes. I have posted a pic of the tool under stevesuk. The one I have is just a cheapo £3 or something ? $5 ? anyway, you can get them with different blades for different materials and more substantial, but you get what you pay for.

I have that deburring tool!!! It is the most versatile tools I've ever used! You have great control over deburing the hole.

Useful info, I can't quite work out from the tool's 'blade' how you use it - I suppose it's obvious when you have it in your hand?

And for caged nuts, I'd always assumed that Marshall used the ones that are used in 19in racks, which I'm 99% sure you can get from StudioSpares in London. The mini stack (Marshall's 4ft solid-state novelty from the '90s) uses exactly those - but in a modern metric size, of course.

Presumably these caged nuts also need a square hole, though it's easy enough to file a round hole to shape in an ali chassis, I suppose? I'm working on a 1/16th inch steel chassis at the moment, and it'll be the *&#&%@~#! last one I ever do!

E-mail me if you want, and I'll send you some caged nuts they are real cheap, less than 20p (30c) each including the screw. You can swop me something you have excess of. The shop is just down the road. The deburring tool rotates freely in the end of it's holder and you just rotate the tool clockwise in the hole, the good thing about it is you can do both sides of a hole from one side, by changing the angle of the tool.
Yes, you do need a squar'ish hole, I use aluminium for chassis' and it is difficult not to open up the hole too much with a sharp file.
