A different sort of Ebay auction...

Post by loverocker »

Hmmm... the customer service in most music shops sucks, so maybe I should sell up and go and run a good guitar shop: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 2553059705

Can't help feeling that Worthing isn't the most happening of places in terms of Rock-n-Roll, though... 8O

Great!

Lucky SRV didnt buy the Tokai from this shop. Otherwise it'd be another 50K.

Oh wait is this Worthing UK, or Worthing, TX? ;)

Thanks!

Hey Ian,

Yeah that's a good idea, Japanese vintage guitars.

There is a guy in Japan selling these on ebay (lots of em). You can search on tokai and will find the guy. I dont think he's local.

When my bro went to Japan last year on student exhange for 3 weeks, I asked him to look for some tokai. Nahh..he was too lazy to do that :)

Or if somebody has a friend in Japan, that'd be great as well.

Thanks!

Yup, there are actually quite a few guys regularly doing the Japan -> Ebay thing (milkydog, Katana, makelchea, guitargai, bluzey, apmechling, etc). Prices have gone up over the last couple of years. And I bet there are lots of guitar shop owners in Japan who can't believe how much interest there is now in the '70s/'80s guitars that they couldn't shift before :)

Ian's right about Worthing. The shop would make more money as a surgical support retailer

Hi Nik, Loverocker,

Well as Loverocker says, lots of people have spotted the potential here. So it’s hardly a new idea, I’m probably the 1000th person to think of it this week, LoL!

Ah yes, “ Katana “;- I’m waiting for a guitar from them right now. Only trouble is I’m having difficulty paying him within his 4 day rule;- after PayPal failed (dunno why??), I wired him the dosh by “express wire transferâ€

Ian,

Hehe..I dont know if there is Worthing, USA. I was just referring to another post about ebay with (alleged) SRV's Tokai.

Next thing you know people start selling their wives or mothers or in-laws. Oh wait, that has happened right? I thought there was some news on that a few months ago. Ebay, being the responsible service provider, reluctantly pulled the plug on the auction. " We are not in the mail-order bride/mother/inlaws business yet, so this cannot happen. We are in talks with mail order brides r us from Latvia, and will make announcements soon". Or something like that...

Barry, yeah...things like this will surely drive price. I guess this is the US revenge on how the Japanese bought and brought back to Japan US vintage guitars? But then, the vintage Japanese guitars sure are great.

All your guitars are belong to us! Hehhe...

Alrite!
