Beginning Builder - Where do I start?
Ok.....I really want to try this out. I started out tweaking and building fuzz pedals, but that wasn't enough. I then recapped and blackfaced my silverface bassman without any prior "in the chassis" experience. So I've already got a kick ass fender.....I need a kick ass marshall to go beside it. So I have a few questions. Which kit to build? Everyone seems to have a different version. I just want a version thats complete and accurate. Around how much is the cost? I usually order through Mouser...I know some of the parts (tube sockets, tubes, and specialty trannies) will have to be ordered from other locations. I plan on buiding the chassis and making my own head cabinet. I want to to a little at a time....so I might wire the board first and then do the tube and trannie wiring later. Ok....I've run out of questions.....time for your advice.
Thanks,
Aaron

Welcome to 18watt.com...
Looks like you are into it. I have to warn you... it can become an addiction
There are the main schematics, layouts, BOMs here (the stock 18watt):
http://www.18watt.com/modules.php?name= ... load&cid=1
Mark Huss wrote a BOM (in .doc format) with all the parts number here:
http://www.18watt.com/storage/18watt%20 ... 20Huss.xls
Buy kits from www.gdsamps.com (including irons, chassis, faceplates)
The "Web Links" section on the left has a lot of resources from where you can order.
HTH,
gabi.

You'll do great if you've already done some other work. It is a blast when you get it finished, like building your own sonic time capsule. This amp was by far the most fun for me to do, mostly because they are so rare, and where I live it was my first chance to actually hear one!
Have a great time! And as if building wasn't enough fun, it's actually one of the best amps there is IMHO.
