Tube Choice for 36w...

i'm about ready to order some tubes for my 36w and i was looking for suggestions on what i should get. I know this is a matter of personal taste, but i'm looking for suggestions from people who have built the 36w and have heard it with different tubes... any and all suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

I'd suggest NOS, the best values are ones of the same quality, but not necessarily labeled as collectible. I've got a re-labeled mullard, brimar, and rft in the pre-amp section, and funkwerk power tubes in the 36 now.

I also just re-tubed a blackface bassman with NOS. It made a huge difference in tone, and in particular, the heinous microphonics are gone.

Most from SgtOverdrive on this forum. I'd speculate he can find you some excellent 12ax7's and the rectifier - if he's out of power tubes, ask for a referral.

I agree Sarge is a good source of tubes. He has a website at http://www.tubetramp.com.

Another couple good sources are KCA NOS tubes at http://www.kcanostubes.com and Daves tubes at http://www.davestubes.com.

mr voodoo man ive got a set of tesla late 70s hexplates matched quad for 75 this is a very reliable good sounding unit .it is hard to get those two words to jive...reliability and tone.these have it.and are half of what any others are gettin.thanks guys!
