Dumb Footswitch Wiring Question

Post by kinmike »

Guys,

I have a recent fender single footswitch I'm going to hardwire for the 18 watt clone. Inside the footswitch end at the factory the unshielded white wire and the shield braid from the shielded wire were soldered together to one terminal and the shielded wire is connected to the other.

So on the other end inside the amp chassis I assume I ground the white wire to chassis, connect the shielded wire to the tube socket, and then leave the solder braid unconnected since I read that only one end of the shield braid should be connected.

Is this correct?

Anybody?

Just want to see if I have it right. I also tried the changes to the stock trem circuit Richie recommended in "Trem Trem and more trem" post. Can't seem to get any trem yet. The footswitch just makes signal weaker but I haven't had the chance to totally troubleshoot yet.

I am not sure what the fender footswitch does but you just need to break ground. Put a volt/ohm meter across the path and see what happens to the continuity.

I use a boss latching switch with the battery powered led. Works great.
