I was going to build a head cab that is more like just a cut off version of the combo cab.. then you could use a reg trem chassis, and it all mount the same.
Then it would look like the 18.. as if you took a combo cab,and just cut it off to make a head.
then the control would be on the top, just like the 18.. might also look cool on a speaker cab made to match it. One of those ones that can be open or closed back.. .
Maybe Jeff might try one of those.

Plexi.....I think that would make for a rather tall head. The chassis is about 6 inches tall or so...then the tubes are another 3......and you need about 1.5" of clearance plus another 1.5" of wood thickness. That makes around a foot tall at a minimum....which could look pretty nifty......but how would it balance on top of a cabinet? I would definately knock it off and break it somehow after a few beers. Just a thought.....not to bust your creative bubble.

Ok i'll scrap that idea..lol I'll try to stick to building amps.
I guess thats why the old fenders had those head hold down things to the cab..so you'd have to pull the whole amp over..not just the head..:)
So i guess the camo covered field jacket amp wouldn't fly? even if it had pockets to keep your pics and cigs in??

Actually, plexi, i was thinking that you could build a head like that......but since its gonna be tall anyway, throw a couple 6 inch speakers in there. it wouldnt increase the weight tremendously....and you could switch between those speakers and a seperate cab....that way you could just bring the head around as a little practice amp.

The field jacket amp would be cool. you could use the ends of .50 caliber casings for knobs and have a dog tag as a name plate. Get a m-16 handle to put on top of it for ease of transportation. Paint the chassis od green and letter everything with bright yellow paint via a stencil.

I think that if you ever wanted to travel with that one, you'd have a hard time getting on a plane. 8O

Check out Guitar Bruce's BECA preamps -

Don't think they would be too keen to have them on a plane! :)
