Hi Steve,

I'd only buy it if the wood is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer.

Gotta have the vintage vibe, u know..;)

Should you use solid wood or ply? I guess that would be a splinter thread . . .ba-dum-pum!

Maybe you could burn your name on the board with your soldering iron as well?

Why stop when you're on a roll? If you have a bunch of nails
left over and a couple rolls of 22 awg hook-up wire left you could
make a matching out-put transformer.Start by wraping a layer of
duct tape around a handfull of nails layed side by side followed by
10 turns or so of wire (taps optional) , one more layer of tape followed
by the numer of turns need to acheive a 9K to 15 ohm ratio.OK so you
may need the 1000 foot roll here.Although not strictly an E-core it
does contain the iron needed and maybe some zinc in the plating to
keep it in good health.
The finished amp might looking interesting on some of the T-shirts.........

Steve,

I suggest you patent this.

Not as an amp, but as a weapon.

Just imagine, the 2x4 can really hurt enemies, especially with the nails. And, whatever leftover charge from capacitors on it would be added bonus to disable the target!!

Wow, it is true. Every home should have it!! It'd be good deterrent against intruders.

Thanks!

8O The electric paddle!
I aplied power today I mean t looks like some
kind of crude train set..

I imagine it will be an amp sooner or later
must say it was
fun mountng he transformers with drywall screws!!

HEY Nik.. you asked about snap in caps right?

Ihave some 33uf 450v I a using here..
not that it matters I mean this is a bench rig..
I also added a solid state recto for now I dont trust the
fine craftsmenship enough to dance the recto tube..

If you're seriously going to power that thing up, just remember that wood isn't a very good insulator. You will probably have a resistance of in the megohms range between the various nails, so you may get slightly odd results....

Oh Thats nice to know
little wooden resistors everywhere
that will give it the mojo for sure!..
or turn it into a code practice ocsillator..
No worries mate Its just goofing around..
If it gets all weird I dont plan to lose days and days on it!

playing guitar through a 2x4

Post by SteveinTempe »

It works!
I had some problems with the trem side still do but
I expected some..
The normal channel works and it rocks,, nutso
I did not expect this thing to actually make noise..
Guess the question comes up now what do I do with it!
I can sell it for like 1800 or 2200.00 right?
:?

I had the ticking trem thing I solved it by using a twisted wire
like the heater wires and soldered one end of the spare wire to the chassis.. The trem is now a low volume channel very much so..
I think its still has a grounding issue or something..
I intend to tear it town anyway its kind of silly
to have it on this rig its such a sensitive circuit with real
parts in a real amp..

One comment on the layout I know its been talked about
Why on earth is the V3 trem right next to the power tubes
I would put the PI first ..

I want to build a second crunch channel I like that tone circuit
on the trem side nice!
This a great design of an amp I mean I have built like 4 of these
out of junk, What a cool circuit,!!
:D
Just imagine when I order some good parts and make a real one..
neato.

Can you take pictures of the "moment of truth"?

This must be how they made amps before electricity . . . right? It's like when we were kids, before electricity . . . we had to watch TV in the dark.

Thanks Steve! You're killing me!
