Adrian, i know i have a bunch of different ones, i'll have to look and see what values i have. But i'm sure i have some .022s..
I guess my rat packing of old junk may one day come in handy for something..
I think Norm also sent me some of these..so he may have a few too..
Plus the old electronics store has some in there drawers,i remember seeing them, although i 'll have to go and look for the values..
I thought they used these in the fenders too? I may have some .o47 and .1uf too.. hey i might even have to use some for an 18..lol
i guess most people want these because this is what was in the LP guitars..
I'll keep ya posted on my findings..
I also saw where they bought 2 of them for 125.00 So the 54.00 was a bargin for the one..LOL Just hard for me to believe someone would pay this much for these old caps..

Hi Richie,
Cool, Thanks!
Yes, the original 50´s Lester´s came with those .022 / 400 volt caps (red - red - orange - yellow. Btw, many have drifted considerably..
I wouldn´t put them in amps, think they could get leaky..
Yeah! People pay stupid money for some stuff... just wait til fashion changes...
No, I don´t exclude me from what I´ve said.
Have you noticed the current prices on 50´s Gibson humbucker pickups?
Especially those with the accidentally white plastic bobbins??
Back on caps.. I heard about new caps in the same price range... something for HiFi dudes...
Hum... those yellow Vishay caps cost coupla dimes each...
OMG, again 4:20 am here...
Adrian

but then you have other sources which don't look quite so expensive:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... me=rvi:1:1
I've got two .01uF bumblebees in a parts trade which I thought I would try to use as a .02uF, but as mentioned, they are off in value, and I would guess probably leaky (but shouldn't be a problem in a guitar)--haven't tried them yet also. The guy I got them from said he had a bunch of them too. I would guess it's mainly the people w/Les Pauls going for maximum authenticity paying the high prices for these--maybe sort of like Marshall owners wanting the Philips mustard caps. Old caps w/.02uF value seem to be very very popular here in Japan. Seem to sell out quickly, so I would guess it's guitar players in general wanting/trying them for tone cap duty, and perhaps not exclusively for Les Pauls either.

I see others have them at big prices too, and i never imagined those red and yellow sprague were going for that. I have a bunch of those.
And used them in many amps.. I also have some black body Philco or was it Philips?,with white lettering. Look like they are made like the sprague..But never listed anywhere.
Better use the newer stuff from now on..lol
Yep all kinds of amps and things used these. I even have some of those wax paper caps.. Because sometimes you always have someone wanting the exact cap put back in.{for some reason} i guess it looks stock.
I may be digging through my old box fulls of stuff, and see what i can find.
So the old tubes, are not the only things that seem worth a bit of money..
I did see where alot of the old pots were pretty expensive. I have a few box fulls of them NOS ,mostly 2 watt. Other things like recordplayer spindles, motors, dial belts, and needles.. I thought this was all junk..
