I was over at PP and people are starting to wake up to 18watters. Anyway, dude chimes-in on a thread and talks about his Winfield Thomas 36W with Half Power switch . Said they're $850 WITH headcase!! So..I goes over to the site and WOW they're pretty sexy lookin amps I must say. Dude says that with his (dont know if they all do) he can pull the rectifier tube and boom it's ss rectified! Couple other cool little ideas too. He has a FEW cool little amps on his site.
So what's the deal? How long has he been making a 36er and with half power? I'm not nuts about his clips but...
Anyway, I dont know if this is a well known old subject, or a banned one, or a new one. I sure never heard of them before.

Nice looking amp, from the description on the site

"The Winfield is reminiscent of the original British amps of the late sixties. It has a cathode follower preamp, two internally jumpered channels and a presence control. The two channels are voiced differently so that one is brighter than the other. You can mix the tones to suit your ear."

It sound as though it is more like a Ax84 November 2+2 than a 36 watter

I'm always up for a nice new inexpensive sexy amp ....I was actually thinking of one of the little ones ..thankfully I remembered that the next little amp I get will come in KIT form. Phew...that was close!

Oy, I had a thread going and got some great info. I also emailed him, and he said it's not based on the 18 watt circuit (it's 30 watts and obviously Marshall/Bassman influenced). Here's the link:

Nice looking amp, strictly by the clip, I didn't hear anything that excited me greatly by it, I mean its not flooring me as much as some of the clips in the Zounds area of 18 watt. Just a personal opinion to be sure.
