LOL merv we should put up a special gallery for all your funny little drawings.
BTW someone mentioned fluerescent lighting. Now maybe it is different if you get he better stuff but having sat in classrooms and study placeswith fluerescent lighting i can tell you it is horrible towork in.
I find the best light comes from halogen lights, and for lighting a room use a uplighter, like one of those on a stand. This gives you a really nice light without being overpowerin or flickering, or yellowish, and stillallows you to see what your doing.

Here ia a pic of my bench. I for one I would like to have a wider bench... Oh well.. maybe next time...
I don't want to take shots of what is behind the camera - hehe... pretty close to merv's drawing.

Thats the cleanest bench i've ever seen..! mine looks about 100 times worse than Gabis..lol I also have a rubber skeleton with his hand pinched between the power cord hanging from the light.. Maybe one day i can clean it up,and get it organized again. No pics..i don't want people fainting,and gasping..lol

I currently build in the spare bathroom !! and the bath is full up with bits. The extractor fan comes in handy though
Thanks for all your suggestions, the project is under way. Starting with a building to the other side of the house for the wood working area, pillar drill etc. for the ' dirty work ' on chassis', cabs, upholstery etc. and the bikes, garden tools, bits of wood that will never be used, paint............. the list is endless.

Well, after a long time of building on the kitchen table and putting up with all sorts of nagging from her indoors, I've finally got a workshop of my own. It's a 10x8 shed at the top of my garden. Not too big, but big enough for a comfortable small workshop. I've been using it for a couple of months now and its great. I still don't do the woodwork and stuff in there as its too small but its perfect for the electronics and chassis drilling stuff.
One of the most important things for me was the lighting. I have a combination of natural lighting, fluorescent and spots mounted on the ceiling beaming down on the benches.
All I need in there now is a beer fridge, a coffee machine (for when I don't feel like a beer - rare) and a microwave. I guess that is when my wife and son will start to forget what I look like!!!
