Well, I can only speak for me. While it seems like a lot, i'd be interested in one. Im sure it can be done cheaper using different materials, but im into buying quality, and never having to worry about needing another. Just my opinion. :)

Given what I know about custom foundry work, $250 seems reasonable. I've looked into a couple of items involving foundry work, and it scared me off. I've actually started building a "backyard" foundry using a large propane cylinder as a shell, to be lined with refractory cement, for sand-casting aluminum (and possibly cast iron.)

I would think that anyone who sells assembled amps should be very interested in one of these. You want quality, you have to pay for it. I can't see that it would EVER drop an amp, something I can't say about some of the wooden ones I've seen.

Is that your own design? VERY nice. I'm working on machining one out of 3/8" aluminum plate. Similar, less the handwheel and the spacing rods at the bottom.
