amperex el84 help needed

To anyone in the know, I just picked upa amperex el84 with a D-getter, Great sounding tube. stomps the jj's I had before. Just was wondering is a D-GETTER a rare tube? I always see other tubes like curtis mathes advertised with copper grids and a D-GETTER. I'm just wondering is it worthwhile to pick these up? Could they possibly be made in the same plant or was d-getter a common thing among many manufactureres.

I know various brands of preamp tubes from the 50's used D getters (TungSol, RCA, etc.), but generally EL84's had halo getter construction. Amperex manufactured the only EL84 I can think of that sometimes had a D shaped getter. I believe they changed over to a halo getter around 1960 but don't quote me on that.

Just for a reference.
I have a couple of Amperex El84s with D getters that are killer.
Bought them off of ebay last year for around $40 a pair.
I would be very much inclined to pick them up if the price is fair.
Cuz they ain't makin any more of these.

had 4 packard bell holland amperex I broke one today now I have 3 el84s sorry theyre for sale or if you got one I may buy it for my 65 stereo!

I checked my old EL84s, and the only ones with D-getters were made at the Philips Sittard factory. I understand I will have to try them soon.
