Okay guys can you check my work here?

I was playing along minding my own buisness and pop goes the fuse.

It's blowing fuses in standby mode, making me instantly suspicious of the PT. So I disconnected the 6.3v heater leads at the PT. Still blows fuses. I disconnect the 5v heater leads at the PT. Still blows fuses. I disconnect the red secondary leads, blows fuses. Now I'm out of fuses, and the only thing still connected on the secondary side of the PT is the center tap. Could it be anything other than the Transformer? Am I missing something?

Make sure it's not touching the chassis.

Me thinks that you should do the old light bulb trick and save your fuses untill you find the problem...(probably the xformer)

Nope, not the switch.

PT going twice...

Just had the same problem...........sounds like your PT went.....make a light bulb limiter........you'll thank yourself.

It's the PT. I just replaced an Ampeg Portaflex with the same problem/symptoms. If fuses blow with no secondaries at all connected to anything, that dog won't hunt no more. DOA.
